As most people are aware our bee populations are in trouble. They help keep the rest of nature alive, primarily though their pollination efforts.
They have been dying in their millions over the last decade. Over use of pesticides, Mites, lack of useful plants, lack of hives seem to have all contributed to their demise.
For the financially minded the guesstimates of the cost that the work bees do for humans is astronomical. But the end result of the annihilation of bees would be crop failures and complete dependence on artificially pollinated crops, or even the possible downfall of humanity.
People wanting to help protect bees and reverse this ecocide, can keep Bees, plant bee loving plants, not use pesticides, buy organic food and support organisation helping them.

“Loss of the world’s genetic diversity would be worse than energy depletion, economic collapse, limited nuclear war or conquest by a totalitarian government .As terrible as those catastrophes would be for us, they could be repaired in a few generations. The one process ongoing in the 1980’s that will take millions of years to correct is the loss of genetic and species diversity by the destruction of natural habitats. This is the folly our descendants are least likely to forgive us”. E.O Wilson
