Kaieteur (Kai-a-ture)
Kaieteur (Kai-a-ture) is named after a stunning waterfall and national park in Guyana, South America, which left a profound impression on Kaieteur founder Michael Horsnell. The name comes from an Amerindian story about a local chief named Kai who paddled over the falls (‘teur’ in Amerindian) in an act to protect his people from attacking Caribs. His face can still see be seen in the rocks on one side of the falls.
