Renewable energy by its nature is a cleaner and often cheaper way of producing energy. Technologies are constantly improving as are their cost effectiveness, which is driven by commercial needs and environmental concerns about the negative impact our inefficient methods of power production and usage are having on the wider environment.

The next important factor is whether it will add value to your property. After choosing a renewable energy installation that will produce for many years to come, it will instantly add value to your property, in a similar way that installing energy efficiency methods, such as double glazing, or adding an extension to your property does. You also have the added benefit of potential huge savings on your energy bills, investing in your future in more ways than one. Quick payback? Many renewable energy solutions can be looked at along the same lines of bulk buying of food or any commodity. Initially more expensive, but cost effective over the longer term. You could also ask yourself about the 'payback period' of buying energy from your normal supplier or for the fuel you burn in your car, or when is the payback on the new car?
